Official Rules
1. Eligibility
The BustedHalo.com® “What Are You Waiting For?” Advent Surprise Giveaway (the “Giveaway” or “drawing”) is open to individuals who are eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of entry. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW. Employees and agents of BustedHalo.com or Paulist Young Adult Ministries and any entity involved in the sponsoring, development, production, implementation, administration or fulfillment of the prize giveaway, and the immediate family members and persons living in the same household as such individuals, are not eligible to enter or win.
2. How To Enter
No purchase necessary. Each day’s Advent Calendar entry will be accompanied by a microChallenge (designed to encourage participants to contemplate and act) as well as a clue to what that week’s Weekly Prize is. Weekly prizewinners will be picked and announced each Friday during Advent (there will be no clues given on Fridays during the contest). Entrants must submit one guess based on each day’s clue along with their e-mail and snail mail addresses (addresses will NOT be shared, sold or given to any third parties). Contestants are limited to one entry per day; each entry must be accompanied by a guess about what the Weekly Prize is based on the clues given. Deadlines for each day’s entry and drawing times will be posted at the same time that the daily contest is announced on BustedHalo.com. Each day’s entries will NOT be carried over to subsequent days for Daily Prizes. You must re-enter each day to be eligible for that day’s prize (e.g.: if your entry on December 1 is not chosen in the random drawing it is NOT carried over to the drawing on December 2, you must re-enter to win that day’s prize). No responsibility is assumed by BustedHalo.com for lost, late, or misdirected entries or any computer, online telephone, or technical malfunctions that may occur. All entries become the property of BustedHalo.com and will not be returned.
3. Winner Selection
There are three different prize levels in this year’s Giveaway: Daily, Weekly and a Grand Prize.
- Daily Prize A small prize will be awarded each day drawn at random from among ALL eligible entries received for that particular day’s prize (except on December 4, 11, 18, 25 — see Weekly Prizes below). Each entry must be accompanied by one guess only about what the Weekly Prize is based on the clues given (contestants can choose to enter with the same guess each day or different guesses). Each daily entry will be eligible to win that day’s random drawing regardless of whether it is a correct guess or not. Each daily entry will also be included in the random drawing to win the Grand Prize on Christmas Day. During the final week of Advent leading up to the awarding of the Grand Prize there won’t be any clues necessary so entrants will be asked instead to answer a question based on that day’s microChallenge in order to enter.
- Weekly Prizes For the first three Fridays of Advent — December 4, 11 and 18 — a Weekly Prize will be awarded based on a random drawing among all the contestants who guessed the weekly prize correctly based on the clues given each day on the calendar leading up to that week’s drawing. Judgment regarding the correctness of a guess is reserved for the publisher of BustedHalo.com whose decision is final. If none of the contestants in a given week have guessed correctly the winner will be chosen from a random drawing of all that week’s incorrect entries.
- Grand Prize An iPod Nano will be awarded on December 25 in a random drawing from all eligible entries received during Advent. ALL ENTRIES WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE RANDOM DRAWING FOR OUR GRAND PRIZE.
Both the Daily Prize and Grand Prize drawings will be conducted under the supervision of the Publisher of BustedHalo.com, whose decision is final. The Grand Prize Winner will be awarded iPod Nano (a total value of over $??? (???)). Other prizes being offered daily include books, dvds, cds and items from BustedHalo.com’s Halo Store.
Random chance of winning depends on the exact number of eligible entries received at the time of drawing. Prizes are not redeemable for cash. Limit one (1) prize per person, per week. No substitution, transfer, or assignment of prize permitted, except that BustedHalo.com reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value in the event an offered prize is unavailable. Taxes on the prizes are solely the responsibility of the winner.
4. General Conditions
Prize giveaway entrants agree to abide by the terms of these official rules and by the decisions of the Paulist Young Adult Ministries and BustedHalo.com which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to this prize giveaway. This prize giveaway is governed by the laws of the United States. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Winners will be notified via their provided e-mail address within seven (7) days after the drawing date. Failure to respond to notification of victory within four (4) days or return of any prize/prize notification as undeliverable may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner. Entrants further grant to BustedHalo.com the right to use and publish their proper name and state online and in print in any other media in connection with the prize giveaway. Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission for BustedHalo.com to use winner’s names and likenesses for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation unless prohibited by law. By entering, participants release and hold harmless Paulist Young Adult Ministries and BustedHalo.com, their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees and agents from any and all liability or any injuries, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with this prize giveaway or any prize won.
5. Internet
If for any reason the Internet portion of the program is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of BustedHalo.com which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this prize giveaway, BustedHalo.com reserves the right at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the prize giveaway. BustedHalo.com assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. BustedHalo.com is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by BustedHalo.com on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this prize giveaway. CAUTION: any attempt by a entrant to deliberately damage any web site or undermine the legitimate operation of the prize giveaway or survey is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, Paulist Young Adult Ministries and BustedHalo.com reserves the right to seek damages from any such entrant to the fullest extent permitted by law. Entries made by Internet will be declared made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at time of entry. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated.
