I was taught that I committed sins by doing acts and that God punished me for those mortal and venial sins. I have believed since prior to Vatican II that the pattern of the way that I live my life has a whole lot more to do with heaven or hell that whether I do or do not perform a certain act (e.g. sex outside marriage or not going to Mass). I believe that the worst sin that I could commit would be to reject God as a pattern of life and the best thing that I can do is to accept God as a pattern of life. Any comments?
