P, where were you seeing such negative slants in the article? To me it appeared to be just telling the pros and cons of each of the sites. It would seem that those Catholics who have some disagreements with some Church teachings as well as those with full faith in the teachings of the church would welcome knowledge of how each of the sites approaches their Catholic matchmaking, especially in knowing how seriously agreement with church teachings is emphasized.

I like the idea of online opportunities to meet people. I have a friend who tried Catholic sites after her divorce. The only sad thing about the experience was that some people sent her nasty messages about her being divorced...That's just so wrong when they couldn't possibly know the situations that were occurring in her marriage. I believe she ended up finding a good man through the site.

P: No explanation required. Anyone who would invoke the word "Ave Maria" in connection with an amorous enterprise would probably have some pretty, uh, serious ideas about the purpose of dating.

Catholic Singles(CS) isn't alone with it's reference to politics. Ave Maria Singles(AMS) has the user list his or her "catholic slant":whether they are conservative, progessive, etc. Catholic Match(CM) also now asks users their political views(and that's besides all the questions about church teachings).
I've used all three sites and some secular sites like Match.com. For catholics who regard their faith as an important component in dating, I'd say CM or AMS are the best. Match.com has many more members, but most of them seem lukewarm at best to religion. CS didn't have alot of active user on it(at least not in my area). AMS has quality Catholics who actively use the site, but(again) not too many in my area. Long distance relationships seem like their specialty. CM is the best one if you want to meet a local Catholic.
Once again, we see another Busted Halo column with an uncomfortable view of Church's sexual teachings. AMS isn't some big creepy conspiracy out of a Dan Brown novel or something. It's just a site where Catholics take Catholic teachigns seriously and understand the point of dating is to prepare us for marriage. What's next? Is Busted Halo going to complain that these sites don't cater to same sex couples?

My husband and I met via AveMaria. We would have never met otherwise, being from different parts of the country. We, like all married couples, have the ups and downs of daily life and fitting two people together BUT we do NOT have differences in our faith. Since God and Church are really the MOST important and defining part of ourselves individually and our lives together, having meet and begun our relationship with much of our faith out there, everything else is just "stuff". God Bless and may you all find your vocations
