Mike, thanks for capturing Emilie so well, and for pointing out the brand of Catholic journalism in which she played such a huge part. Perhaps after reading of Emilie’s deep-seated faith even as she died those who question the asking of “hard questions” may realize that Catholic journalists who ask those hard questions — actually, they weren’t hard questions, they were “real” questions, the questions real people needed the answers to — do so out of that same kind of love for the faith that Emilie wore on her sleeve.

So glad that BH honored Emilie’s life with this remembrance. I was just reading her last post this morning — and taking to heart her Advent reflection. in Catholic Spirit. I know that her words have touched me and for that, she is beloved by this stranger.
