An Index to Freshman Survival Week 2007
Since its inception in 2005 the BustedHalo Freshman Survival Guide has been read by and distributed to tens of thousands of college students, administrators and parents. In light of the events at Virginia Tech in April 2007 ‘freshman survival’ took on a disturbingly literal meaning as the events on that campus changed forever the meaning of terms usually taken for granted like ‘campus safety,’ and ‘security’ and introduced a new term to campuses: ‘lockdown.’
BustedHalo’s Freshman Survival Week is a series of articles and interviews that address the different challenges facing students heading off to college for the first time in a post-Va Tech world. Contributing Editor, Nora Bradbury-Haehl, spoke with students, campus experts and mental health professionals at institutions such as Harvard University, University of Michigan, University of Texas, Ohio State University, University of San Diego, University of California at Berkeley and, of course, Virginia Tech and asked them to talk about what life is like for college students in 2007.
