Naturally, I wondered if no one had mentioned what Easter was to this person. I love Easter. As a child, it was about church, eggs, candy, and playing with tons of cousins. Now, it's a day-long celebration beginning with church, family, friends, sharing meals, stories, jokes about our Lenten struggles, and watching the kids tirelessly search for eggs. All the liturgies and parish activities leading up to Sunday make it all that much more exciting as well. I can't wait for the "rolling away of the stone" this Sunday!

I remember reading somewhere that Christmas was considered the holiest of holy days among Christians. My Mom organized Easter egg hunts and we enjoyed the chocolate bunnies. My grandmother made crocheted Easter hats for my sisters and I. She also made Easter sweet bread with an egg in the middle. My grandmother made one small Easter bread for each of my cousins and I - all 19 of us. I remembered these Easter traditions when I went away to college. The first Easter I didn't come home, my Aunt sent me a box of Easter goodies. The chocolate bunnies and jelly beans made me feel less homesick and brought back the feeling of being a little girl again. So as far as I'm concerned, a little Easter chocolate went a long, long way!!!

My Easter memories surround many things.
